Beniu Soluciones SL concludes the 2025 campaign for the control of the fruit fly in citrus crops, organized by the Generalitat Valenciana and TRAGSA. Through aerial applications using drones and the use of the bait Spintor Cebo (Spinosad), hard-to-access hotspots were treated, ensuring more effective and sustainable control.

Fruit fly control in citrus crops 2025

The 2025 campaign for the control of the fruit fly in citrus crops (Ceratitis capitata), organized by the Generalitat Valenciana through TRAGSA, has come to an end. For one month, Beniu Soluciones SL worked with two teams applying Spintor Cebo (Spinosad) by drone in plots with intense infestation hotspots.

Spintor Cebo (Spinosad): the product used in citrus crops

Throughout the campaign, Spintor Cebo was applied, an authorized bait based on Spinosad, an active substance widely used in integrated pest management due to its effectiveness and low environmental impact.

  • High effectiveness at very low doses.
  • Action targeted at adult Ceratitis capitata.
  • Compatible with organic and integrated agriculture.
  • Short safety interval (1 day).
  • Low toxicity for beneficial fauna.

Spintor Cebo was key in reducing the fruit fly in citrus crops during this campaign.

Advantages of using drones in fruit fly control

Drones have enabled safer, more precise, and more efficient treatment in the affected areas.

  • Access to difficult areas: slopes, ravines, narrow paths, and remote plots.
  • Precise application: ideal for targeted doses of Spintor Cebo.
  • Lower environmental impact: less drift and reduced use of ground machinery.
  • Greater safety: avoids work in hazardous areas.

Results observed during the campaign

  • Visible reduction in fruit fly activity in treated areas.
  • Improvement in hard-to-access plots thanks to the use of drones.
  • More homogeneous and efficient applications in critical areas.
  • Smooth coordination with TRAGSA and the Generalitat.

The treated areas showed a clear decrease in the fruit fly in citrus crops.
